Airbrush Awayday
at Barwell Body Works a blast!
Part of the EMMC away team enjoyed a very successful day out to Barwell on Sat 10th May.
Steve, (prop.) & Frank did several demos, starting with a sectioned airbrush & how it works, inc things like how to adjust the trigger tension! (never knew that!)
Then several sessions on how to control & vary the a/b & paint.
Lots of practice on how to... spray paint .......... followed.
A wide range of paints, masking materials, & airbrushes were demo'd by Steve & Frank, with the opportunity to have a go with the materials.
How to strip, clean & re-assemble next.
(Tip.... do this frequently during each painting session for best results)
By prior agreement with Steve, several of us chose to bring & use our own airbrushes, paints & targets, & each got a very practical advice & tips session with our own kit, a great way of gaining confidence with your own kit.
By consensus, this by itself was considered worth the cost of the day.
Within the EMMC, our own kit ranged from cheap £20 knock-offs, £50 Iwata Neos, up to £130 Iwata HP-CS and more expensive, also present were 20+ year old Badger 150's*
I mention this to indicate not the range of wallet size, but that you don't need to spend £100's to get started, or to get acceptable results, and a good range of Badger kit was available to try & test.
* Steve is an authorised Badger dealer & does maintenance for them, & had spares for these old bits of kit. More details on the websites, I'll link to them soon
Pics below don't do justice to the skill & subtlety of the tonal variations of the P47 & Beetle, or of their paintwork.
In some of the backgrounds below, some of the range of paints, materials & airbrushes available from their website, or collection by prior agreement by phone.
A relaxed, enjoyable day, tea, coffee, & biccys provided.
An opportunity to buy the paint, masking materials, a/b's cleaners, lubes, etc was also readily taken...
